Most operators are now aware of the need to obtain a licence before providing their property for short-term letting. Legislation in this area continues to evolve, with 2023 and 2024 seeing successive Licensing Orders which have updated the law. There are various licence types which can be applied for, each intended to satisfy a certain, narrow, set of circumstances.

Inappropriate applications could be refused, returned or delayed. If the wrong type of licence is issued, it may be unusable.
