    Frequently asked questions

STL Solutions was conceived from the wisdom and experience accumulated through collaboration between professional consultants and petitioners who successfully contested a Judicial Review against the City of Edinburgh Council. Positioned at the vanguard of current information, we regularly consult with government agencies, planning lawyers, consultants, and the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC). Our foundation was laid upon recognising a significant gap in the market for an all-inclusive, cost-effective service catering to the self catering community in Scotland.

What’s at stake is not just your income and tax status as an operator, but the potential pitfalls of navigating through bureaucratic and ambiguous legislation. Strategies we use may differ from traditional advice given by local authority planning and licensing departments based on advanced knowledge of the current legal landscape. This divergence from a conventional approach has proven extremely beneficial for many operators.

Yes, 100% guaranteed. We are landlords also, we are acutely aware of the importance of this, and have contracted with you to deliver your CoL case, sufficiently in advance of 01 October 2023.

We are confident that we will be able to provide your CoL number in plenty of time for you to submit your licence. Please note however that unless you have signed up to the Licence Assistance service (now closed to new applicants) the strong advice is that you should be preparing all the supporting Licence data you require NOW, and not waiting for your draft CoL.

From a standing start, we have assembled a team of experts that are putting together what we believe are best-in-class CoL submissions. We are constantly hiring new staff, adding server capacity and generally building as much capacity, and resilience into the system as possible

Yes. Caseworkers are processing submissions according to the date received, the only exception being for any subject to Enforcement Notices.

From the commencement of an Enforcement Notice attempt, applicants have only 14 days to submit a License Application before being shut down completely, and permanently. To avoid anyone falling foul of this we are treating these cases as urgent. We hope you agree this is appropriate and fair to everyone.

We are still taking on new cases. Please be assured however we are closely monitoring current and projected workload and would review this is we believed there was any risk to any current applicant

We believe we should try and assist as many applicants as possible. The more applicants we have, the stronger our case becomes, and we can leverage information across cases to assist more landlords. We are a commercial organisation and the more revenue we generate the more resource we have to continue fighting the case of STL landlords, and build capacity for the next stage of appeals and fighting this flawed legislation.

We apologise for a small number of testing issues experienced with implementing a fairly complex digital processing platform, from a standing start. We are working through these issues and assure you that your case is in safe hands, and will receive appropriate attention from our experts.

Absolutely not. We are committed to compiling the best possible case for your property, and its unique circumstances.
