The New NPPF is Now In Force: What the August 2026 Rewrite Means for Short-Term Let Operators in England
The Government published the new National Planning Policy Framework on 17 August 2026 - the first comprehensive rewrite since 2012. Its decision-making policies take effect from the date of publication. For short-let operators in England, the practical effect is that the policy context against which planning applications and Certificate of Lawfulness applications are decided has just changed - and, in the areas that matter most for our sector, it has generally not softened.
